Decaying Winter is a hardcore wave-defense survival shooter on Roblox. You land on the frozen planet Eden-227 as an Agent, loot during short breaks between waves, then defend a safe zone through ten escalating nights. This guide answers the core question every new player asks: how do you survive your first run and reach evacuation?
The core loop: loot, then defend
Between each enemy wave you get a looting period of roughly 90–150 seconds to explore the map and grab supplies. After that the storm rolls in and the wave-defense phase begins, with enemies spawning from the fog. The basic concept is simple — scavenge by day, survive by night — but the execution is punishing and there is no tutorial.
Your goal across all ten nights is to survive long enough to reach evacuation. You are not expected to win every time, so treat early runs as learning experiences rather than losses.
Your agent device (press T)
The wristwatch-like agent device is your most important tool. Press T to open it and check your rations, weapon statistics, salvage, the storm watch, and your ammunition. The storm watch tells you when the next storm or wave is coming, so check it before straying too far from base.
Rations keep you alive: the upper bar is hunger (red) and the lower is thirst (blue). Keeping both filled grants buffs, while letting them drain gives you penalties. Ammunition is scarce, so save guns for urgent moments or from night six onward.
Rations, thirst and hunger
There are two ration types. Small rations like R.I Beans and Ulav Cola restore one bar by about 50%, while big rations like M.R.E Lunchbox and Aquafill Bottle restore about 75%. The underlined items restore more and refill both bars further.
If bars empty you become dehydrated or starved, costing melee and defense. A nourished (hunger) and quenched (thirst) state instead grants you bonus defense and melee damage, and the two can stack for a real edge in fights.
Scavenging and enemies
During looting, items spawn across the map — on the ground, in crates, and in lockers. Watch for scavengers (melee and ranged) who can ambush you, especially at the mountain and outpost. Raiders in the castle are far deadlier, so avoid that area entirely.
Always loot with an empty backpack so you can carry more, then drop excess at base before the storm. The safest players keep an eye on the storm watch and retreat with time to spare.
Traits, perks and crafting
The Agency currently documents 20 perks, starting with Survivalist, and 16 traits that modify their pros and cons. Salvage from the Scrapper lets you craft blueprints at a workbench, while hand-crafting combines wood and stone into basic gear.
Pick a perk that fits your style and pair it with a trait that covers its downside. Stick with your team, share supplies, and learn parry and shove — those mechanics decide most fights.
